German style lentils
German style lentils with apple cider vinegar
2 cups lentils
2 onions, peeled and halved
6 cloves
2 bay leaves
1 smoked hock (optional)
Apple cider vinegar to taste

Soak lentils, well covered in water, in a large pot for around two hours. Add onions, cloves, bay leaves and smoked hock if using. Cook until soft and mushy. When cooked, add salt to taste. Add 1/2  cup or more of vinegar to taste. Serve with boiled potatoes.
